In this paper, the validity and precautions were reviewed when fire protective coatings were applied to structural members and walls to attain fire safety for cultural heritages and facilities. Fire protective coating contains of intumescent coating system and spray-applied fire resistive material which are mainly used in the South Korea. The method of use was developed in accordance with characteristics (facilities related to cultural heritage) by deriving factors that can be affected to the general details, the location of use, the method of use about fire protection. In this way, the fundamental ways to enhance cultural heritage’s safety are suggested by providing precautions and choosing materials, proper locations and reasonable methods when cultural heritage and facilities are applied with fire protective coatings.
