Abstract

To ensure the sustainability of cultural heritage in the establishment of the National Heritage Service, which is based on the principle of ‘service,’ what efforts are needed? The study was conducted to explore ways to enhance local residents’ participation and interest in cultural heritage, an area that has been minimally addressed until now. To this end, the research distinguished various cultural heritage participation activities based on theoretical background and previous studies, and examined how actual local residents’ perceptions of cultural heritage differ accordingly. Based on the analysis results, several implications for key participation activities to enhance local residents’ awareness of cultural heritage are presented.

문화유산의 ‘서비스(service)’를 기조로 세운 국가유산청 출범에 있어 문화유산의 지속가능성을 담보하기 위해 어떤 노력이 필요한가? 본 연구는 그동안 미미하게 다루어진 문화유산의 주민참여에서 지역주민의 참여와 관심을 제고하기 위한 방안을 탐색하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 이론적 배경과 선행연구를 바탕으로 문화유산 참여활동을 구분하고, 이에 따라 실제 지역주민의 문화유산 인식이 어떤 차이가 있는지를 검증하였다. 분석 결과를 바탕으로 지역주민의 문화유산 인식을 제고할 주요 참여활동에 대해 몇 가지 시사점을 제시하였다.
