Abstract
This study proposes design guidelines for storage facilities to ensure the sustainable preservation of designated cultural heritage, such as bibliographic records, sculptures, and paintings. Focusing on heritage held by private owners or Seowon in non-urban areas, the research addresses a critical paradox: while these locations preserve historical context and "place identity," they are highly vulnerable to natural disasters—including flooding and wildfires—and poor accessibility. To mitigate these risks, this study derives optimized design strategies concerning site selection, architectural structure, and mechanical systems. The resulting integrated framework serves as a foundational resource for the planning, design, and policy development of movable cultural heritage preservation facilities in non-urban environments.
