Abstract
This study examines how Korea’s National Intangible Heritage system influences community agency and proposes community participation–based operational directions for sustainable transmission. By comparing Gijisi Juldarigi (Tug-of-war of Gijisi) and Mueul Pungmul, it examines how different modes of institutional intervention produce divergent pathways in the contextualization of performance and the formation of archetypes. The findings suggest that community-led participatory structures can strengthen the authenticity and resilience of intangible heritage.
