This research examined the business system and current status of safety security manpower who is managing directly important wooden cultural heritage and grasped current situation of arrangement and age and duties of safety security manpower arranged in 158 important wooden cultural heritages. Also, it intends to draw current status and implications of safety security and suggest developmental direction for the establishment of wooden cultural heritage’s preventive measures in the future. The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), established by the armistice agreement of the Korean War in 1953, runs across the central part of the Korean Peninsula and spans approximately 250 km between South Korea and North Korea. The DMZ is home to several ancient relics and tombs, which are important for understanding the history and culture of the Korean Peninsula. However, due to military tensions, the DMZ is used by both North and South Korea for military training and testing, with numerous firing ranges and military training facilities distributed throughout the area. In the DMZ, shock waves from firing range tests travel with higher intensity over long distances compared to other types of shock noise. This can cause vibrations in structurally vulnerable cultural heritage sites, potentially leading to minor deformations or cracks depending on the noise level. This study measured shock noise from large-caliber firing tests at shooting ranges in the DMZ, analyzed the data, and predicted the extent of potential damage by comparing it with vibration standards related to cultural heritage.
